God usually corrects us through His mercy and grace. It is through His goodness towards us that we experience real joy and peace. His glory shines brighter in us when we listen to Him, then trust and obey Him.
Sadly, some of us are not sensitive or attentive to His voice. We fail to turn our hearts toward Him and do not have faith that His love is greater than our sins.
There are times in our lives when we forsake the Lord and do not fear Him anymore. We neglect to value His glory over our selfishness and pride.
The consequence of such attitude God calls as “evil… and bitter” thing. When this happens, He withdraws His tender mercies and lovingkindness and allows us to face the full consequences of our choices.
Own wickedness shall correct us, and our backslidings shall reprove us.
May we not come into this point of our lives that we are so hardened by sin, that we cannot see our own mistakes anymore. May we continue to ask God to give us wisdom and humility to always look upon Him and be sensitive to His voice of correction. May we not set aside the glory that He wants to share with us and exchange for the bitterness that would give us shame.
“The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”
